How do I navigate a boat channel?
The easiest way to remember how is the phrase “Red Right Return.” This means that when you are returning from the Gulf of Mexico and toward Homosassa Springs, the red channel markers will be on your right, the green on your left. On your way to the Gulf of Mexico, the green markers will be on your right, the red markers will be on your left. It is very important that you stay in the boating channel at all times because the river is rocky and extremely dangerous outside the channel. We recommend that if you are not familiar with the area that you purchase a navigational chart of the area. For a satellite view of the area CLICK HERE.
